My 2018 return season has not had very many high notes. It seems like I can not quite shake off the rust. Costly pit road mistakes, and on track incidents have spoiled the season so far. Daytona wouldn’t be any different. Despite qualifying in the 4th position and making it to the 2nd position by the end of lap one, the good showing was short lived. Going into turn three I received a bump that upset the truck and sent me spinning down into the inside line. This resulted in a multi car pileup that severely damaged our Chevy Silverado. Numerous trips to pit road to repair the damage was required, and despite all of the extra time I managed to stay on the lead lap.
It was shortly after the race was restarted that I bounced into the outside wall and spun into another car, destroying both of our vehicles and effectively ending our day. We will return for Kentucky next week, a track where I have had mediocre results in the past. It’s looking like 2018 is going to be a long season.
