On Wednesday I was traveling south on Interstate 43 just north of Milwaukee when traffic started to bottle up. As we moved along, it was hard to tell if we were just coming into normal evening traffic in a big city or if this was something else. It wasn’t long until a voice came over the CB and announced that there was a pedestrian in the road. There were a handful of police officers with their tasers drawn in an attempt to apprehend the suspect. Shortly before this police incident there was a two car accident blocking the left lane of the highway, but it’s unclear if the two events are related.
The worst part of this whole incident is that less than 45 minutes prior to this scene, a 17-year veteran of the Milwaukee Police Department was shot and killed in the line of duty not far from this area. These officers just lost one of their friends and brothers and they had to deal with nonsense like a pedestrian causing a scene on the interstate. I tip my hat to the Milwaukee Police Department, as well as all of the other men and women who risk their lives every day to keep our streets safe. They do not have an easy job at all.
